Southwest of the town beneath Chrudim hill (836 m), near Krásno and Třídomí, once stood St Nicholas’s Church. It supposedly vanished with a castle said to stand on the mountain. At night a hooded man’s ghost walks here, guarding wine kept in deep cellars. A White Lady also appears with keys, a pot and a spoon, never speaking to anyone. Chrudim, or Krudum, is the focus of many legends. A sunken château supposedly lies inside, while caves on its slopes hold immense treasures guarded by the local spirit lord Hans Heiling since the dwarfs moved away. On Good Friday the mountain opens with all its riches. Only someone born on Sunday can enter and take treasure. A White Lady also appears on the summit. See Loket.
