Hluboká Nad Vltavou · STORY FROM THE ATLAS

The Devil’s Furrow

In the deer park near Hluboká nad Vltavou, northwest of the town by Munice, a deep ditch is shown, called the Devil’s Furrow. Local legend says the devil ploughed it with the estate steward in harness, punished for tormenting peasants in life. This was chief director de Bossi, popularly called Nebosý or Tubosý, who in 1760 headed the manorial office at Hluboká, temporarily transferred from Český Krumlov.
