According to legend, the castle well conceals the treasure of a former owner, the widow of a Kuruc officer, reputed to be very rich. Imperial troops besieged the castle for her wealth, but its defenders resisted bravely. When they finally yielded to superior numbers, she threw all her treasures into the well and then jumped after them. Her body was later found in the river, supposedly proving an underground connection between the river and the castle well.
