Great treasures are supposedly kept in the castle’s buried cellars. The king of the dwarfs, with a long grey beard, guards them. Every spring he leaves his underground hiding place and wanders through the deserted castle all summer, often showing himself to people. He usually sits on a weathered boulder of a steep rock above the Brložský stream, sneezing loudly. Anyone who honours him with the traditional greeting after every sneeze is supposedly rewarded with treasures. He takes revenge, however, on anyone who mocks him. Ghosts of enchanted knights are also said to appear among the ruins at night.
