In the oratory of Zlonice Church hangs a portrait of Maxmiliána Alžběta, née Kanická of Čachrov, wife of the local lord Bohuchval Bernard Valkoun of Adlar, who died in 1693. She survived him by only three days and was buried in the Valkoun tomb beneath the church floor. But she had only appeared dead. She regained consciousness and tried to escape. Strange sounds were supposedly heard in the church, but superstitious people took the underground cries for souls lamenting in purgatory. Only thirty-four years later, when the old church was demolished around 1727, was her skeleton found sitting on the tomb's highest step beneath the massive marble cover.
