About two hundred years ago, a jack-of-all-trades named Vít Fučík lived at the isolated Klus farm near Vodňany. He made wings from sheet metal and stuck goose quills into them. He fastened bladders filled with marsh gas to his clothes and took off from his house's dormer window or a topped tree. He flew around the area, supposedly even to Vodňany and Písek. He died in 1804 and is buried in the former settlement of Bílá Hůrka near Týn nad Vltavou.
