Skalník is described as a raven-like creature with three heads that shoot fire. One of his lairs was placed on Skarmani Hill near Domažlice. Giant Mountains tradition warned particularly against him on New Year’s Eve, when he was said to approach an intoxicated person, lead them onto a rock and throw them off.

What the old legends say

Giant Mountains tradition particularly warned against encounters on New Year’s Eve and travelling while intoxicated. Skalník was said to lead people to the very edge of a cliff, so the basic protection is to avoid cliffs at night, keep to a safe path and not follow the apparition.
