It is a historical fact that a former owner of the castle, Ota of Bergov, once raided Opatovice Monastery. This event gave rise to speculation and legends that part of the famous Opatovice treasure was hidden in the castle ruins. A recess in the courtyard was pointed out as its supposed former hiding place. It was allegedly later discovered by Carthusian monks and taken to Valdice Monastery. Another story says that in Panna tower a heavy stone is sunk into the floor, covering an entrance into the interior of this basalt pinnacle, where the treasure supposedly still lies. Many bold adventurers have tried to reach it, but could not move the stone. The chamber floor is now deeply covered in fallen masonry, making the stone inaccessible. (See Opatovice nad Labem.)
