North of the castle stands a solitary boulder, supposedly dropped by the devil after he failed to win a wager with a miller from a nearby village. It is known as Buchlov-kámen, the Buchlov Stone. Another version says that the devil wagered with the lord of Buchlov that he could bring an enormous boulder from the nearby Střílky quarry in one night. But a cockerel crowed towards dawn; the devil could no longer deliver it to the appointed place and hurled it to the ground in anger. It split into three pieces, still visible here today.
