Among the castle’s curiosities is the so-called Ghost Room, containing an Egyptian mummy, skulls and portraits of the dead. A White Lady supposedly lived in one of its recesses, said to be the spirit of a deceased lady of the castle. Legend tells that after her death a wicked steward ruled here, treating the villagers harshly. The White Lady appeared to him and frightened him so much that he jumped from a window and died. Later she always appeared when enemies threatened the castle. People also spoke of black spirits haunting the castle and the ghost of a former lord who counted his money every night.
