Buchlov - Hrad · STORY FROM THE ATLAS

The Lime Tree of Innocence

One of the castle’s curiosities is a square stone beneath the so-called Lime Tree of Innocence. A trial of innocence was once held here. The accused had to plant a young lime tree upside down, with its roots uppermost. If it took root and leaves grew on the roots, the accused was cleared of the charge.
