At midnight a werewolf emerged from a grave beside the Church of Saint Gall. It was the form taken after death by a local burgher named Dejmek. He breathed his poisonous breath into the night watchmen’s horns, killing them. At last a brave man resolved to rid the watchmen of the werewolf. He took the creature’s rotting clothes from the grave and fled with them to the church tower. The werewolf ran after him, but the fearless man began ringing the bells vigorously. At that moment the werewolf crashed noisily onto the church floor. In the morning his head was severed with a spade and the corpse buried in the cemetery.
