Prácheň- Hrad · STORY FROM THE ATLAS

Beating the Ghost

In St Clement’s Church within the former hillfort on Prácheň Hill, a worn piece of birch rod was once kept under glass. A child had used this rod to beat its mother in nearby Velké Hydčice. After the child died, it supposedly thrust its hands out of the grave, but the mother whipped them with the rod until it withdrew beneath the ground. The rod was reportedly kept in the church as a warning to children.
