The area around Nepomuk preserves reminders of St Adalbert’s travels. The château and Zelená hora hill above the town allegedly owe their name to him, and his footprint is shown in the castle church. In Chlumec forest near Vrčeň, northeast of Nepomuk, stands the Baroque Chapel of St Adalbert at Na poušti. An old legend says he rested here on his return from Rome to Prague. His footprint remained in the stone and is displayed in the chapel. Healing water was channelled here from Dobrá voda, and great pilgrimages came from across western Bohemia.
