North of Mladeč, known for its caves, rises Plavatisko, ending at Třesín hill. A castle of the robber knights Lord Boček and Knight Plavatis allegedly once stood here. When captured, both were walled up alive in the cellars beneath it. Nearby is Bočkova díra, a cave where a skeleton of an exceptionally tall man was found in the previous century. The discovery prompted legends of the giant Boček, who lived here, attacked travellers and stored his booty. An old merchants’ road did indeed once cross Třesín.
