Lnáře · STORY FROM THE ATLAS

The Fiery Rider

At Lnáře château and in its surroundings, the ghost of a wicked administrator who had harshly oppressed the subjects during his life appeared at night. He was seen most often between Lnáře and Záhorčice, near Koulovice and Kasejovice. Accompanied by the sounds of the Wild Hunt, he appeared in a fiery coach with a burning head. In Nesviny forest near Kasejovice, he appeared as a pillar of fire to people gathering wood, bowed to them and then vanished. After this had continued for a long time, his grave was opened and his head cut off with a spade. He is said not to have appeared here again.
