Around 1700, Count F. A. Špork, philosopher, Freemason and “generalissimo of bird-catchers”, had a group of buildings and sculptures erected on Ptačí hůrka near the village of Čihadla as a favourite summer retreat. Several buildings, sculptures and allegorical paintings survive. The count devoted himself here to meditation and bird-catching. Numerous inscriptions in the buildings, often written in his own hand, testified to his reflections. Unfortunately, the château is currently inaccessible. At the road junction leading to it, only two large sandstone skulls in Braun’s style can be admired. They rest on massive pedestals before the chapel’s rear façade, facing the château at Brandýs. See Kuks and Lysá nad Labem.
