Křivoklát- Hrad · STORY FROM THE ATLAS

The Nightingale Path

By order of Emperor Charles IV, the surrounding villages had a feudal obligation to supply songbirds for the castle’s surroundings, especially the so-called Nightingale Path below it. He is said to have ordered this in honour of Queen Blanche and her firstborn daughter, so that the princess would hear the language of birds from her earliest childhood.
