The renowned Rožmberk regent, fishpond builder and alchemist Jakub Krčín of Jelčany built Renaissance Kratochvíle on the site of Leptáč manor and later ceded it to Vilém of Rožmberk. Many works and legends nearby recall him. Gallows supposedly stood near the château and were constantly used; Krčín punished the smallest offence. Hostile to Netolice, he dug a channel from Lhenice to Bavorov to divert their water. In return they wanted their clerk to murder him. The channel is still called Krčínka. As punishment for his cruelties, his ghost must supposedly plough it, driven by devils. Many locals reportedly saw the team. The devils strike him with long chains, urging one another: ‘Hit Krčín till the chain flies off!’
