Eight kilometres south of town in the Kralovický stream valley lies the Devil's Dam. The owner of a small château once sold his soul for the devil to build the finest residence in the area overnight. Work began at midnight by the stream. But the owner's clever wife made a cock crow before completion. Thinking dawn had come, the devil fled, and the château collapsed with a crash. Its ruins blocked the stream and eventually formed an island around which the water now flows. The dam was also said to be haunted.
