At midnight a mysterious white figure passes through the château garden and around the building. She is the White Lady, its former owner, with a large bunch of keys at her waist as a sign of her dignity. She harms nobody, tending instead to flee late travellers, and only sometimes calls mournfully, ‘Judita!’ She supposedly calls herself by her own name in a voice full of reproach. This is Judita Geidlerová of Wolfsfeld, unable to rest in the grave because of unreconciled guilt. She managed the estate between 1740 and 1780 and was reputed to be extremely cruel.
