German legends say that nightmare spirits also appeared in the area. A mysterious woman's ghost called Swiza haunted the castle. She was supposedly endlessly old, having lived since pagan times. She wears a wolfskin and stag antlers on her head. She foretold disasters and illness and could also turn her victim to stone.
