A deep well in the castle courtyard is said to be a gathering place for local witches. On Midsummer's Eve the devil's priestesses assemble here and dance wildly until cockcrow, then fly off in every direction. Each year on the feast of St John the Baptist a little firebird supposedly appears at the well and drinks water for two minutes. It is said that a sick person who bathes in this water immediately afterwards will surely recover. Before rain, steam as thick as fog rises from the well. The water sprites who live there are supposedly heating the water to make it evaporate more and produce heavier rain.
