At various places in the château, the pale ghost of a sorrowful White Lady appears at night. Her legend concerns the cruel nobleman Volf, perhaps of Ronšperk, who ruled at Horšovský Týn. He oppressed peasants and townspeople until they rebelled. Summoned before the nobles’ court in Plzeň, he was forced to treat his subjects better. From one of many campaigns he brought home a young beautiful woman. Since he was already married, he could not immediately house her in the château. He secretly married her in the Loreto Chapel in the park. At the same time, he ordered his first wife walled up alive before the ceremony ended. Since then her ghost has wandered sadly through the château at night.
