A wicked steward supposedly once worked at Horní Libchava Château. People said the devil carried him away, but accounts differ about the place. Some say he took him straight from his room through a hole in the roof. It was repaired many times but always reappeared. Later the whole roof was covered in metal, yet snow never stays at this spot even when the rest is covered. Another version concerns the lowest part of the park, where a deep opening reportedly existed until recently. With a great racket and two pairs of black horses, the devil supposedly took the steward through it. The place can still be seen in the park.
