Horní Kamenice · STORY FROM THE ATLAS

The Sunken Noblewoman’s Footprints

Long ago a château stood on Hrádek hill near Horní Kamenice. Its owner supposedly built a bridge all the way to Staňkov. His proud young daughter hollowed out bread rolls and wore them instead of shoes when going to church. As she stepped onto the last stair, a deep rumble sounded and she sank into the earth with the entire château. Her final footprints remain in a stone supposedly once forming a step of the demolished bridge. See Staňkov.
