A place near the town is called U Zuzany, “At Zuzana’s”. The ghost of a woman who cannot rest in her grave walks here. In life she followed a different faith from her neighbours and suffered much at their hands, until she finally hanged herself. A distinctive wailing can be heard at this spot, supposedly Zuzana’s lament. Nearby Šklíb hill is also linked with this crying. The strange sounds are explained by winds “from Moravia” having free passage here into the Třebová basin, producing a sound like weeping. At the boundary of Třebová’s lands, in the so-called Poukarovo hájemství, a man named Deml who killed himself was once buried. A dark call can sometimes be heard there: “De-ml! De-ml!”
