During the Second World War the Nazis built the Richard underground armaments complex in extensive limestone tunnels beneath Radobýl and Bídnice, chiefly producing tank engines. The labyrinth stretches for tens of kilometres, deteriorates rapidly, and part now stores radioactive waste. The tunnels themselves are closed to the public. Their history is presented by the Richard Mine Through Time exhibition in Litoměřice.
