A well-known legend says eggs were added to Charles Bridge's mortar to strengthen it. It pokes fun at the people of Velvary, who supposedly sent hard-boiled eggs to keep them from breaking en route. Modern analyses have not confirmed eggs in the original mortar, but the tale remains one of Prague's most famous legends.
