A unicorn's horn was supposedly found when the town was founded, and the mythical animal was placed in its coat of arms, shown running at full speed on a red field. Mníšek farm was once a prebend of monks settled nearby. According to some sources, Knights Templar had a monastery here and also lived at nearby Velešov; other sources deny that they had a seat here.
