In the 1970 s, one of the last Czech alchemists, known under the pseudonym Theofanus Abba, lived here towards the end of his life and died on 22 December 1975. In the 1930 s he published two parts of a planned trilogy, From the Legacy of the Prophets, under the titles Physical Transmutation and The Revelation of John the Theologian. The third part, devoted to the Tarot and continually revised and expanded for many years, remained in manuscript.
