A room in the castle palace can be reached only by crawling through a narrow opening. It is known as the dungeon. A treasure was supposedly buried here, and several owners still searched for it in the nineteenth century. Baron Rüdiger of Stielfried had workers dig beneath the floor, and after several days they did find an iron chest. But following a deafening crash it sank into an abyss. Alarmed, the baron stopped the work.
