At the end of the sixteenth century, Linhart Colonna of Fels built the Renaissance château and moved his seat here from Andělská Hora. He supported alchemy, making experiments here probable. Count Leopold Hartig lived here from 1734, followed by his eccentric son of the same name, who greatly enlarged it. He bought large Venetian mirrors and hung them around the ceremonial hall, making it look like a crystal palace. On a whim he later brought in a bull, which attacked its repeatedly reflected image until every mirror was shattered. He supposedly carried out several similar pranks. Eventually his estates were confiscated and auctioned in 1794, and he himself ended in poverty.
