The massive wooded mountain of Buková (683 m), descending towards the Elbe in several steep slopes, has long been a focus of local legends. A stone block here is said to be the surviving pier of a bridge across the Elbe that the devil was to build in a single night. He wagered with an old local woman for her soul and carried stones from Sedlo hill above Liběšice, where people still point out the Devil’s Ravine from which he took them. But he was not finished by cockcrow; the bridge collapsed, leaving only a stone pier formerly also called Zinkenstein.
