Sebranice · STORY FROM THE ATLAS

The Obročnice spring

A little Chapel of Saint Nicholas stands above a spring below Sebranice. The place is known as Saint Nicholas’s Valley. A record in the parish archive says that long ago a grain steward healed his ailing eyes with its water. In gratitude he had the chapel built over the spring, hence its name Obročnice. Further miraculous cures supposedly took place here later. This spring is also called Fialová voda, Violet Water, like the spring at nearby Dolní Újezd in the Desinka valley. The two springs are said to be connected and to possess healing properties.
