The skulls of the twenty-seven executed Bohemian lords supposedly lie somewhere in the Church of St Salvator. Every year on the anniversary of their execution, their ghosts emerge and walk together to the square, to the spot where the scaffold stood on 21 June 1621. From there they go to see whether the astronomical clock is working properly, supposedly a sign to them that the Czech nation is doing well.
