The knight Jiřík Tunkl once ruled at Brníčko Castle and Zábřeh. Following the example of southern Bohemia, he created extensive fishponds at the expense of his subjects’ small fields. In 1493 his subjects beat him to death in Zábřeh. After his death, his ghost appeared on the bank of Podhrázský Pond, harnessed to a plough and driven by the devil. According to legend, his wife released him from the spell, spending her life into old age dismantling the banks of the surrounding ponds and carrying the earth away in her clothing. See Postřelmov.
