Plešivec, with its two summits (643 m and 654 m), occupies an exceptional position in the Brdy Hills. It stands distinctly west of the main ridge. Perhaps this is why it has long attracted settlers and served as a place of sacrifice. One of Bohemia’s largest hillforts once stood here. The outer perimeter of its triple ramparts, still visible today, measures more than three kilometres and encloses over 56 hectares. It appears that the hill once held a Celtic occult centre. Many remarkable legends surround it. Also well known is the Plešivec rocking stone, an erratic boulder on the eastern slope below Krkavčí skály. It really did once rock, but now rests firmly on its base.
