The local Rococo château was built in honour of Maria Manriquez of Lara and Mendoza, widow of Vratislav of Pernštejn, and a folk corruption of her name also gave the village its name. Romantic and ghostly legends circulated about the château. The White Lady who walks here is the ghost of a murdered young woman who refused to submit to depraved noblemen during wild orgies. The château inspired A. Jirásek’s play The Lantern.
