On 9 June 1682, four women accused of witchcraft underwent trial by ordeal within the village lands. One did not drown, which the judges took as proof of guilt, and she was burned alive that same day on the bank of the Váh. On 16 September 1686, fourteen more “witches” from Jamník, Vlachy, Lúčky and Nižné Sliače underwent a similar ordeal: they were thrown into the Váh near Dehtáre, where all drowned. In June 1686, two other women from Lisková underwent the ordeal of hot iron in the local church. When the iron badly burned their hands, they were declared witches and beheaded on 11 June 1686 by the executioner of Ružomberok.
