Before the Battle of White Mountain, when the local castle was held by Linhart Colonna of Fels, a leading figure in the opposition of the estates, there was an alchemical laboratory here. Jakob Tentzel worked in it; his treatise on alchemy is included in the collection De metallis diversi tractatus in Prague’s National Museum.
