A castle once stood on Jánský vrch, later rebuilt as the Baroque château of the same name. In the mid 17th century the cruel castle captain Thümling von Löwenberg lived here and left an indelible mark on local memory. Red stains appear on the wall facing Javorník and cannot be whitewashed away. They are supposedly traces of the devil's rampage when he carried off the steward. Another version makes Thümling originally a shepherd who contracted with the devil for seven years of carefree rule in the château. But the château bell constantly haunted him: in its ‘Tim-ling! Tim-ling!’ he heard his approaching end and the devil's mockery. Finally the devil carried him away, leaving only the indelible stains.
