Near the town is the so-called Dragon Rock. A terrible dragon supposedly once lived here and demanded a certain number of human victims each year, chosen by lot. One day, when the lot was being drawn, a plainly dressed man came to the spot. As soon as he saw the dragon he raised his staff and uttered a spell. The dragon roared and clung to the rock; the imprints of its claws can still be seen. J. V. Grohmann tells the story in his Czech Legends.
