At night the ghost of a headless Capuchin walked along the monastery ramparts. He followed a narrow path with his hood raised, covering only part of his bloodstained, headless neck. He was supposedly a young Capuchin who had fallen in love with a local butcher's wife. Her husband caught them together and struck off the friar's head with a broad axe, then threw it into the river. The nocturnal headless apparition was said always to foretell some misfortune.
