A skeleton or fext stood in the cemetery beside the tomb of the beautiful Vela, the lady of Chotěborky. During her lifetime he had supposedly been her lover, a knight. A tale also known elsewhere tells how a fearless woman carried him on her back to the local inn, but the skeleton refused to release her. She had to take him back to the tomb, where at last he fell into his coffin and crumbled to dust.
