Dolní Dunajovice · STORY FROM THE ATLAS

Tieffenbach’s Bells

This is the name of the ringing in honour of Count Rudolf Tieffenbach, who gave the village a charter abolishing compulsory labour around 1630. The local councillors once decided to end the custom. But the bells supposedly rang of their own accord and cupboards containing the village charters inexplicably opened. The ringing resumed and the custom disappeared only in this century.
