Zebín - Vrch · STORY FROM THE ATLAS

Sand from the Devil's Boot

The Devil once lost a wager with a local miller. During a race from the Krkonoše he had to stop here to shake sand from his boot, delaying him. Its pebbles piled up to form Zebín's conspicuous cone (406 m). Another version speaks of Krakonoš instead of the Devil. He bet a young miller who could reach Veliš first; Krakonoš ran all the way from Sněžka, the miller only from Soběraz.
