In the Strašice woods on Lipovsko Hill, the ghost of a wicked Franciscan appeared after his death, harming charcoal burners and everyone entering the forest. An old charcoal burner supposedly banished him with a magic book from the Svatá Dobrotivá monastery. The friar was confined by a spell to a spring still called the Franciscan Spring. The Mother of God supposedly caused the spring near the village to rise by touching the ground with her wand when she appeared to a devotee in this then-deserted place, according to B. Balbín’s Miscellanea Regni Bohemiae. The water flows from unusually hard rock.
