According to legend, Jan Žižka once tried to capture the town while the morning dew was still on the ground, but failed and had to withdraw with his army. An annual Festival of Dew was held here to commemorate the event. It was a wild celebration, a local counterpart of the medieval Feast of Fools. It was later banned.
