J. V. Grohmann records in his Legends from Bohemia that the Wild Huntsman appeared at midnight on Christmas Eve in the deep Kostelec forests, accompanied by a host of flying ghosts. A woman riding a horse without saddle or bridle could be seen among them. On her right galloped the Wild Huntsman in a fiery hood with a pack of howling dogs.
